Asics

Asics is a Japanese Company that manufactures athletic equipments. Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka started manufacturing sports shoes in the year 1949 in his own living room and later on in 1977 he developed his own company called Asics. He believed that by promoting health and fitness, one can create a healthy and happy life style.

Many nationally ranked athletics team are being sponsored by this company. The national teams of Brazil, Argentina, Canada, Japan, Italy, Sweden and Spain are being sponsored by Asics. The products include foot wear and other sports equipments that is used in tennis, badminton, squash, golf, cricket, volleyball, wrestling etc. They were the official apparel sponsors for the recently held Winter Olympics during 2006. Also they sponsored the 2007 World Athletic championships held in Osaka. Besides, apparels were supplied to Irish, Dutch, South Korean, Australian and Italian teams.

A research institute for sports science was opened in Kobe by Asics in the year 1990. Coaches, athletes and scientists work together to make new innovations in sports shoes and apparels. They research with all latest technologies and sophisticated software to produce the best apparels. This institute mainly works with a goal, and that is to enable athletes to perform better, enjoy themselves and reach higher levels.

Asics athletes regularly visit Kobe to make sure that the shoes and apparels are made with the exact international standards. They work with athletes and coaches to enhance their knowledge and experience to make better products in future, which will benefit all the athletes.
